My skin is something I’ve struggled with for quite some time and still do. Sometimes I feel like I missed this life lesson. |Please tell me I’m not alone| One second it’s super oily, the next I’m shedding skin. My pores are giant. And I constantly have white/black heads, my face does not discriminate. I’ve read countless articles on Reddit, you know the ones that actually get into the science of skin, nothing. I’ve tried almost everything and never seem to see results. Until now. Very very minimal results, but its something.
My skin is very needy. Just to achieve these minimal results, I have to use a plethora of products, none of which are cheap. I ‘ve created a base skin care cocktail that I’ve come to enjoy for the moment. My skin still needs work and I plan to constantly evolve, but for now I actually have an answer when I’m asked what my skincare routine is and more importantly, I’m not running out to get the cleanser of the week every week.
These are the products I’ve come to swear by.
Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm
This stuff is like gold. My skin feels so refreshed and the smell is fantastic.
Paula’s Choice SKIN PERFECTING 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant
Someone recommended this gel to me after reading a REDDIT post. There are different options based on your skin type. I’ve noticed a decrease in the redness on my face substantially.
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
LOVE LOVE LOVE this moisturizer. I instantly feel it seeping into my pores and once it dries, my skin feels incredibly soft. No residue. It feels like brand new skin.
SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense Treatment
This little bottle is crazy expensive, but it works. You don’t need but a drop or two for your face, so it actually lasts for awhile. I’ve noticed a definite decrease in the amount of actual pimples I have and even some of my cystic acne has subsided.
Colleen Rothschild Extreme Recovery Cream
I use a somewhat heavier moisturizer for night time since my face has 6-8 hours to soak. This moisturizer is SUPER heavy, but I have noticed a lot less dryness during the winter. I like the Sheer Moisturizer for the Spring/Summer.
Colleen Rothschild Dual Enzyme Polish
This mask is great for bringing your skin back to life. It removes all the dull skin cells and leaves my skin feeling bright. 1-2x a week.
LUSH Mask of Magnaminty
I’m obsessed with LUSH. I’m obsessed with the freshness of their ingredients and how it makes me feel like a queen. This mask is no exception. The peppermint scent is wonderful and also digs a lot of dirt out of my pores. It also calms redness. 1-2x a week.
Boscia Luminizing Black Mask
It’s hard to truly express my love for this mask. I’ll admit, at first the ‘peel off’ aspect intimidated me, but oh how wonderful it is. It says to leave it on for 30 minutes, I go ahead and leave it on for an hour, makes it much easier to peel off. There’s something uber satisfying about peeling this mask off and seeing every little dirt strand. It makes me feel so powerful. (Not Pictured bc I ran out).
When I used to travel, I would just get a travel size cleanser and call it a weekend. However, now that I’m knee deep in this skin care routine, I definitely notice a difference in my skin when I don’t keep up with it. I try to take most of these products with me when I travel and what better way to do that than with the Vera Bradley Travel Hanging Organizer. I just got a new one for Christmas and thank goodness, because I had my other one since before college and that thing was ratty. How you travel with your skin care is almost as important as the skin care itself. Most of the time these products aren’t cheap, you don’t want them spilling open en route and, even worse, ruining any of your clothing. This organizer keeps everything so compact that there is minimal room to spill and if so, at least it’s contained.
