Guys! This is a post I’m super excited to share with you because its a diary of the first 30 days of building our home! When they told us our house would be built in 90 days, I scoffed; but now seeing the progress in the first month, I actually see that as a possibility! I’ve never been so shocked at how much they’ve been able to accomplish in such a short period of time. Photos below!
Building a home from scratch is something I never thought we’d do. We were solely looking at resales. But then this little property came along. Initially we blew it off. But then on our way to tour another home, we stopped back by the model to just show my parents the type of house we were looking at, we met some of the surrounding neighbors and something in our gut told us this was the place to be.
This has been a super hectic and overwhelming process. They pushed us to move quick due to approaching winter weather, which meant A LOT of decisions were made very quickly. And for those of you who don’t know me, I’m likely the most indecisive person on the planet. Over the course of a month, from the date we signed until the date we settled, we made 15 pages worth of decisions; from exterior colors, number of rooms, appliances to outlet locations, flooring and a ton in between.
The price tags on things up front when building a house are scary, BUT the benefit to building is its a new space the exact way you want it. While there are absolute pros to resale as well, there are also cons. This is something we weighed heavily, but that’s for a different post.
While it was an intense month, it’s such a pleasure to sit back and watch it all fall into place now.
We have our framing walk through this Friday where I’m sure I’ll be taking a lot more photos, but here’s the progress thus far. October 3, 2017 through November 3, 2017.
