So I had all intention of creating a ton of my own healthy alternative recipes for Superbowl and sharing them with you! But then life happened…we spent every weekend of January moving out of our old house and we joined a last minute trip for Superbowl weekend so that Will can watch his Eagles in Philly. Since now I’m not technically making any of my own food for Superbowl, I decided to share some of the healthy alternative recipes I rounded up on the web. I mainly try to go the healthy route because I have zero self control on occasions like this, so I’ll likely eat everything in front of me and making small changes takes up less room in my stomach aka I can eat even more.
- Bobby Flay’s Brussels Sprout Nachos | One way to add extra veggies to your Superbowl line up is via toppings.
- Vegan Chili Con Cashew Queso | This recipe is super easy and satisfies vegans and non-vegans because its delicious!
- Baked Buffalo Cauliflower Sliders | Buffalo chicken is my all time favorite game day snack. And substituting cauliflower for chicken is a super easy way to get extra veggies without sacrificing taste!
- Lentil Enchilada Wonton Cups | Lentils seem to be the key to all things healthy lately. And what better vessel to transport than cute little wonton cups!
- Zucchini Pizza Bites | Mini pizzas are my FAVORITE! Using zucchini as a base saves carbs/room for extra!
- Twigs in a Blanket | This is a fun take on the must have game day food swapping out sausage and crescent dough for veggies and prosciutto. If you can’t give up the standard flavor – just swap in turkey or chicken sausage and a whole grain carb.
- Sweet Potato Fries with Avocado Dip | Sweet potatoes are healthier than regular white potatoes and keep you fuller longer.
- Spicy Black Bean Burgers | Because what party is complete without burgers? This recipe keeps them on the healthier side.
- Skinny Buffalo Chicken Dip | Pair with carrots, celery and whole grain crackers.
- Guacamole – Because guac is life.
- Deep Dish Cookie Pie | Dessert is necessary at any party and this is one of my all time favorite go to recipes. I’ve made it plenty of times and it’s delicious every single time. Seriously, you need to try this.
