One of the things I dreaded during this pregnancy was maternity photos. I knew it was something I definitely wanted to do to, but I wasn’t feeling the most confident as of late and I wondered if it was something I’d just eventually let slip on by. I wasn’t actively seeking out a photographer, a location, nothing.
And then enter Sarah Aaron.
We had met several times before, but reconnected at a mutual friend’s bridal shower last month and she mentioned her photography business and how she’d love to capture our maternity photos. I was blown away by her work (I mean check out this amazing styled shoot), so I convinced myself to buy a few bump friendly dresses and I said yes!
And boy, I’m glad I did.
We ended up choosing to do the photos when I was 32 weeks along, which we felt would give me a large enough bump, but I wouldn’t feel too uncomfortable taking photos. I was so busy the month leading up to the date we chose that I had no time to actually put thought into this styling this shoot or even the location.
I knew I was keeping the looks simple, so I reached out to Rachel Mulherin because I knew her jewels would glam them up. I’d actually been wanting to work with her for some time now, so this was a perfect opportunity!
I mean, this wrap bracelet is e v e r y t h i n g.
And then of course, I turned to my hair guru, Sarah Goldsborough, for hair styling and makeup. Win-win.
Sarah Aaron picked the ultimate location (beautiful Kent Island – Terrapin Park) that combined woodlands and the beach. Will and I instantly felt comfortable with her, as she’s a mom to adorable 18-month old Royce. So we discussed pregnancy symptoms, her birth story and of course, the wedding we’re in together coming up.

I couldn’t be happier that we ended up doing these photos. This is the only first pregnancy we’ll ever have and I’m learning to embrace my pregnant body more and more. I want to be able to show our sweet girl these photos and remember this time together.
