This series has been so exciting for me! I love sharing our nursery piece by piece with you all as we’re actually creating it piece by piece. The first post in this series touched on the glider we chose, while this post will focus on the crib and the overall theme of our nursery!
The theme came naturally to Will and I before we even knew the gender. I’m a lover of neutrals as you all know, so I knew that would play a big part of the nursery. There wasn’t going to be an all pink or all blue situation. We fell in love with the safari we went on for our Honeymoon and knew we wanted to incorporate our love for animals and exploration into the nursery as well. I found the sweetest neutral safari artwork (lion, giraffe, and elephant – these are actually on sale right now) that I knew I wanted to hang above the crib – these were actually the first items we purchased for the nursery and just got around to hanging them up a few weeks ago. We hope these will expand her curiosity in animals and culture in general.
If you guys have been following me for awhile, you know I’ve been going out to the Restoration Hardware Warehouse sale near me quite frequently to furnish this home. This is actually where we got our crib – for over 75% OFF! I couldn’t believe it! All items at these sales are safety compliant and just have cosmetic issues, but this crib was immaculate. I’ll link the crib we went with here, but I definitely wouldn’t have paid full price for it. I found one very similar on Pottery Barn Kids and Babyletto that are right around what I paid for ours. I was in between both of these cribs before finding this one for a steal!
I was told that convertible cribs are the way to go and after much research, I ended up going with a 3-in-1 vice a 4-in-1. The 3-in-1 still includes a transition to a toddler bed, while the 4-in-1 includes a transition to a full sized bed. I figured by the time our babe is ready for a full sized bed, we may want something different decor-wise and I didn’t want to pay extra for that, while also limiting ourselves down the line to feel obligated to use it.
I absolutely love the serene feeling of this nursery, its by far the cleanest house in the room so far and I plan to keep it that way until its full of all of her baby things. I love coming in here and just rocking back and forth with her in my belly and enjoying this (quiet) time before she actually makes her arrival.
Next up, dressers and storage pieces we’re loving!
