Ok, so I know this post is very overdue, but better late than never, right? We had our baby shower at about 32 weeks, which, looking back, felt like perfect timing. I had enough time to research for our registry, but had enough time after the fact to organize and order the things that we didn’t receive at our shower.
When thinking about planning our baby shower, I knew two things: 1. I wanted to be a part of the planning and 2. I wanted it to be a co-ed shower. This is huge moment that Will and I are creating together and I wanted the both of us, along with all of our friends, male and female, to experience it with us. Leaving Will and the other important men in our lives out, just didn’t seem right.
As expected with any event I host, the forecast was 100% rain, so the week of was full of figuring out rain options, HOWEVER, the day of the shower, the rain held off for the most part until the evening and we were able to utilize some of our outdoor space!
I worked with my parents, my best friend and some seriously awesome vendors to plan the perfect shower. I wanted a lot of fun balloons and a lot of donuts (the shower fell on #nationaldonutday). And I got both.
Eventi Weddings created this amazing balloon installation full of ombre pinks, whites, and greenery. If you ask my mom, I’m anti-color, so I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone and incorporate color, but not TOO much to give me a panic attack and somehow my best friend understood that vision completely. My dad built the actual photo booth backdrop and then we just hung the installation up the day of the shower. I loved snapping photos in front of it and having other people use it for the polaroid guest book we set up for baby girl.
I also fell in love with these balloons below from Studio DIY. I literally kept them flying high in front of our house for a good two weeks after our shower! They’re the perfect round shape for photo opps.
I knew I wanted to do a polaroid photo guest book so that our baby girl could look back and see came to celebrate her before she was even born! The polaroid camera wasn’t the quality I expected, BUT it was fun for the kids to run around and take photos and the set up was adorable.
As usual, Dunkirk Designs coming through with the signage, koozies and paper! To say I’m obsessed with them as a company is an understatement, I’ve worked with them on countless projects and they always come through exceeding expectations! They created our polaroid sign, these adorable koozies and the games below.
I mean, how perfect are these koozies for a co-ed baby shower?!
On to the food!
Confession, I’ve never had anything catered other than my own wedding and I obviously wasn’t going that big for a baby shower. Also being in a new location, I didnt even have many people to ask for recommendations. Naturally, I took to Facebook of our new community. I found April’s Table, a local Severna Park Caterer, and let’s just say, expectations were exceeded once again. Working directly with April was a breeze, she was so sweet and understood my crazy vision. I expressed that our shower fell on National Donut Day and I needed towers of donuts and boy did she deliver. We also went with a southern theme incorporating quick and easy bites.
I mean, this dessert spread would have any mom to be in tears of joy…
She also transformed my kitchen island into a woodlands dream. We had originally planned to have the food outside, but with the weather, we moved everything inside and she went to work setting up vases, beautiful flowers and rustic decor.
While we supplied our own alcohol, April came stocked with THREE non-alcoholic options for any who weren’t drinking and it was much more enjoyable than plain water.
Everything was absolutely delicious and we had leftovers for days. I sent most people home with a goodie bag of donuts because I wasn’t trying to get diabetes during my last trimester and had those donuts stayed in my house, I would have for sure devoured them all!
Leave it to local jewelry designer, Rachel Mulherin, to drape my BFF and I in glam that we couldn’t help but pair with donuts and show off. I mean, really, is anything better than pretty jewels and donuts??
We can’t thank everyone enough for all they did for our shower and making the trek to celebrate our baby girl. She has such a solid group of people that we can’t wait for her to meet!
And seriously, a BIG thank you to these amazing vendors:
